Xihu inks 25 projects worth $1.49b at 2018 Computing Conference

Xihu district of Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, signed agreements on 25 projects worth over 10.2 billion yuan ($1.49 billion) at the 2018 Computing Conference on Sept 19.
The projects, covering information technology, biopharmaceutical, energy conservation, high-end equipment, culture and the aviation industry, will be launched in the major industrial zones in Hangzhou, including the Cloud Town, Zijingang Sci-tech City and Xixi Valley.
The headquarters of Cainiao Logistics, Alibaba Group Holding Ltd's logistics offshoot, will be based in Zijingang Sci-tech City with a total investment of 5 billion yuan.
Four foreign invested projects were agreed, namely involving the headquarters project of Cainiao, one in the area of information technology, and ones in the fields of social software technology and maternity products.
There was also an array of other projects agreed, including in the areas of blockchain, car rental, hydrogen energy, and unmanned aerial vehicles.
It is expected that the projects will act as a major economic engine to attract more investments and businesses and facilitate the economic transformation and upgrading of the district.
