Hangzhou artists showcase cultural heritages in Arkansas

Eight artists from Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province presented live demonstrations of Chinese intangible cultural heritages in Little Rock, the capital city of the state Arkansas, the United States, on Feb 11.

As part of the Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations, the troupe presented audience members with the profound history of Hangzhou and the unique charm of the city in ways of traditional Chinese craft demonstrations included Hangzhou embroidery, fan-decorating, paper umbrella-decorating, bamboo paper making, and wood-carving.

Jiangnan sizhu, a Chinese traditional string and woodwind instrument from the south of the Yangtze River Delta region in China was performed at the event.

More than 300 students from the University of Central Arkansas attended the event and expressed their fondness for Chinese culture.

University officials made keynote speeches and thanked the Hangzhou artists for their stunning performance.

The programs, which will last until Feb 19, tour in four American cities, including Houston, Little Rock, Oklahoma, and Miami.
