The Administrative Committee of Hangzhou West Lake Scenic Area held a literati gathering of the West Lake culture of the Southern Song Dynasty (1127 - 1279) at West Lake Museum on June 24 in celebration of a special event.

The West Lake Cultural Landscape of Hangzhou was listed as a world heritage eight years ago that day.

Participants enjoyed the West Lake culture and the charming West Lake tales of love which took the forms of poems, calligraphy and painting, music, dancing and drama.

The city of Hangzhou signed a friendly relationship agreement with Verona, Italy in March this year and developed cooperation between West Lake and two heritage sites in Verona. A video showing rare historical materials of West Lake in Hangzhou and two world heritage sites in Verona were also played at the opening ceremony of the event.
