In celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of People's Republic of China, Hangzhou government -- together with the Chinese Silk Museum -- launched a qipao design campaign to collect designs worldwide of the traditional Chinese dress.

Part of the 2019 Hangzhou Qipao Festival, the event received more than 40 qipao works by designers from over 10 countries including the UK, Russia, India and South Korea, 16 of which made it through to the finals after preliminary selection.

The qipao, also known as the cheongsam, is a traditional Chinese dress representing the essence of Chinese culture.

Organizers said people could vote for their favorite designs on Sept 9-17 via the Hangzhou Tourism Guide WeChat (account: gotohangzhou), by clicking on the "Hangzhou qipao" in the tourism information category.

Each user has five votes per day and the winner will be announced at a qipao gala on Sept 29.
