The 2019 Southern Song Cultural Festival will open on Hubin Pedestrian Street in Hangzhou, the former capital of the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), on Oct 12.

Over the next month, Hangzhou residents and visitors will have the chance to experience traditional Chinese culture dating back to nearly 800 years ago. 

During the festival, traditional Southern Song cultural elements including calligraphy, traditional music and tea ceremonies will be showcased on Hubin Street.

The drama Legend of White Snake, which depicts one of the most classic love stories in Chinese traditional culture, will be heavily featured at the event.

The festival, which will last until the end of November, also features a festival for folk artworks, a cultural relic exhibition, a road show promoting the traditional culture of the Southern Song Dynasty, a gourmet festival, and an international motor cross race.
