A meeting for members of the standing committee of the Hangzhou CPC Committee and other officials convened on Feb 9 to discuss how to promote rule of law in the fight against the Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia (NCP).

According to statements made at the meeting, which was presided over by Hangzhou Party chief Zhou Jiangyong, all government departments need to prioritize the security and health of the people and press ahead with disease prevention and control efforts in a manner that is consistent with the law.

Zhou stressed that the government needs to improve laws and regulations to better combat the virus.

The Party chief said that punishment for those who intentionally conceal their contact history with infected people or fail to disclose that they are infected needs to be strengthened.

Zhou also noted that the government should encourage people to complete administrative procedures online.

According to the meeting, the Hangzhou government needs to increase awareness of the law among its citizens and strengthen the rule of law in the city.
