A number of commercial complexes in Hangzhou have reopened their doors, allowing Hangzhou residents to finally get back to shopping, which they haven't been able to do since the ongoing epidemic began.

On Feb 20, the Wulin Commercial Complex Circle, which consists of four shopping complexes in Xiacheng district, Hangzhou, officially reopened to customers.

Statistics showed that the entire shopping area received nearly 20,000 customers on Feb 20, with gross sales reaching 16.38 million yuan ($2.33 million).

It only took five hours for the Hangzhou Tower Shopping City, one of the four complexes in the Wulin Commercial Complex Circle, to surpass 10 million yuan in gross sales.

Most of the shops in Hangzhou Tower Shopping City are now open. Shoppers can order food in advance and pick it up at the store, or enjoy "no-touch" delivery services after ordering food online.

The Wulin Yintai Complex, another complex in the commercial area, also saw a notable increase in sales. The complex, which is only a street away from the Hangzhou Tower Shopping City, registered a year-on-year increase of 53 percent in sales.

To ensure the safety and health of consumers, Xiacheng district formulated stringent regulations, requiring that shopping complexes to improve management and sanitation.

The regulations state that shopping complexes in Xiacheng should strictly implement the heath QR code system, which requires Hangzhou residents to report their health conditions.

Only those who receive a green code are eligible for free travel in the city, while those who receive yellow or red codes should undergo seven to 14 days of quarantine.

In addition, all complexes in Xiacheng have prepared hand sanitizers for shoppers.
