Most foreign trade companies in Hangzhou have resumed operations after a lengthy break caused by the coronavirus outbreak.

According to the Hangzhou commerce bureau, as of Feb 21, Hangzhou's top 100 foreign trade companies had all resumed business.

A total of 872 companies with an annual export trade volume surpassing $10 billion had resumed business, accounting for 99 percent of the total number of said companies in Hangzhou.

4,106 out of 4,226 companies with an annual export trade volume of $1 million or more had also resumed operations.

The Hangzhou commerce authorities are investigating the difficulties faced by foreign trade companies in resuming operations and working to address them.

The Hangzhou commerce bureau also issued a notice calling on the city's foreign trade companies to make use of the newly-updated digital foreign trade platform, which uses internet and big data technologies to help foreign trade companies explore more global business opportunities.

The commerce bureau is also working to alleviate the impact of delayed orders and projects on foreign trade companies.

The Yuhang commerce bureau contacted logistics companies with high shipping capacities to help deliver products for struggling companies.

The Binjiang commerce bureau offered more than 70 million yuan ($9.95 million) in subsidies to support companies affected by the epidemic.

The Jianggan commerce bureau is also planning to offer subsidies to alleviate financial burdens on foreign trade companies.

The Hangzhou Comprehensive Bonded Area also set up special windows to deal with the customs clearance of medical preventative supplies.
