The fourth session of the 11th Hangzhou Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) convened in Hangzhou, capital of East China's province, on April 24.

Nearly 500 political advisers attended the opening ceremony and will offer comprehensive consultations on the city's major political, economic, and social issues over the following three days.

The year 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the new China and the CPPCC, said Pan Jiawei, chairman of the 11th Hangzhou Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, who added that the committee has been actively contributing to the high quality development of Hangzhou as a political advisory body.

He expressed hope that all members would continue to contribute their wisdom and strength to help the city overcome the current epidemic while sustaining healthy social and economic development.

More efforts should be made to leverage the strengths of the CPPCC system in advancing urban governance and modernization, he added.

In 2019, a total of 575 proposals were submitted to the committee, among which 524 were accepted and 24 were identified as important.

As of the end of December 2019, all 524 proposals had been implemented, according to Ye Jianming, vice-chairman of the 11th Hangzhou Municipal Committee of the CPPCC.
