The fifth session of the 13th Hangzhou Municipal People's Congress commenced at 9 am on April 26 at the provincial Great Hall of the People.

Liu Xin, acting mayor of Hangzhou, delivered a government report reviewing the city's efforts to combat the epidemic over the past few months and the achievements the city has made over the past year.

In his report, he said that Hangzhou aims to achieve year-on-year GDP growth of nearly 6.5 percent and a year-on-year increase of nearly 7 percent in general public budget revenue in 2020.

In the report, he said that expenditures in research and development account for nearly 3.5 percent of the city's gross regional domestic product in 2020.

In 2020, the city aims to increase the per capita disposable income of residents in urban and rural areas by 7.5 and 8.5 percent, respectively.

According to the report, this year Hangzhou will focus on boosting the service sector, developing the manufacturing industry and digital economy, improving the city governance model, and more.

The congress also reviewed the city's economic situation in 2019 and the 2020 proposal on economic and social development.

Members of the fourth session of the 11th Hangzhou Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) watched a live broadcast of the conference.
