The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has assigned Hangzhou's Jiande Qiandaohu General Airport the international airport code JDE, local media reported on May 26.

The code has been entered into the IATA Airline Coding Directory (ACD), the official industry source for airline designator codes, three-digit airline numeric codes, and location identifiers.

The ACD also includes ISO currency, country codes, contacts for minimum connecting times, coordinators and airlines applying for reconfirmation procedures, and numeric location type codes.

The code will give Jiande Qiandaohu General Airport access to the industry resources of IATA and improve the airport's cargo and business services.

In recent years, the Jiande Economic Development Zone has been establishing low-altitude flight services centers, provincial business airline laboratories, and aerospace R&D centers in an effort to develop the Jiande Qiandaohu General Airport into a model Chinese airport.
