Ma Yuesi, 58, chose to be a Guqin maker when he was 24 years old. Over the years, as an intangible cultural heritage inheritor, Ma never stops improving his skills.

"I've never made a perfect Guqin," he said, "if someday I do, I want to write a book to pass down the craftsmanship to future generations."
