Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, hosted the 2020 Global Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology Conference from July 25 to 26, showcasing the city's strong AI industry and "city brain", the AI-empowered urban management system.

Attendees included academicians from the Chinese Academy of Engineering and AI experts from home and abroad. The event has been held every year since 2016 and has become an important annual event for China's AI industry.

Attendees agreed that urban management and social governance cannot be separated from cutting-edge technologies such as big data, cloud computing, block chain, and AI, and that Hangzhou should accelerate its smart city development and create more models for other cities.

A spokesperson for the municipal government said that national-level laboratories in Zhejiang University, West Lake University, Alibaba, Hikvision, and Dahua Technology are the forefront of Hangzhou's attempt to set up a next-generation AI innovation development zone.

Their sharing of academic and industrial resources will help make Hangzhou the most appealing Chinese city in terms of digital economy, social governance, and business environment.
