Hangzhou, capital city of East China's Zhejiang province, has been receiving more international visibility since it held the G20 Summit in 2016. The best way to get to know a city is by wandering around local museums and Hangzhou Museum, with a myriad of exhibits about the Hangzhou's history and culture, is highly recommended if you visit the ancient city.

Hangzhou Museum is one of the most influential museums in the province and serves as an important window through which people can see the city's development over the course of the past thousands of years.

With a total area of 24,000 square meters, including 7,000 for exhibitions, Hangzhou Museum houses over 10,000 items of cultural and historic heritage. Among them are precious items with distinct regional features and significant academic value, including pottery, paintings, calligraphic works, jade, seals, stamps and ancient coins.

The most precious treasure housed in Hangzhou Museum is a crystal glass from the Warring States period (475-221 BC). Unearthed from a tomb in Hangzhou in 1990, it is so far the largest crystal product from ancient times among all the relics found in China.
