Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, unveiled Window, the logo for Hangzhou International Day, on Sept 3.

The logo design mainly comprises a window, the Earth, the Qiantang River tidal bore and the Internet icon. The letter H, which refers to the initial of Hangzhou, and the Earth constitutes the core motif. The open window represents a glimpse into the shared community of mankind.

The vertical silver lines and gradient grey not only outline the shape of an open window, but also evokes the image of a digital display emitting infinite possibilities. The blue curve and block surface represents chip design as well as the ease of bold Chinese ink-wash strokes. The green lines that surround the blue waters and the planet represent speed and power, implying that mankind is moving forward hand-in-hand in an increasingly connected world.

Designed by prominent Chinese artist Han Meilin, the logo epitomizes the vision of Hangzhou's opening-up practices and its commitment to fostering more international exchanges and cooperation to create a shared future for mankind.

Hangzhou designated Sept 5 as International Day in April 2018 to mark the anniversary of the closing of the 2016 G20 Hangzhou Summit.

International Day has since become an annual event aimed at raising the city's international profile.
