Covering 210.22 square kilometers, Jianggan district administers 10 sub-districts (of which Xiasha and Baiyang are administered by Hangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone), 142 communities and four administrative villages. The district has a permanent resident population of 801,000 by 2019 and a registered household population of 496,000.
Jianggan's development is mainly driven by digital economy and manufacturing, and it achieved regional GDP of 94.94 billion yuan ($13.9 billion) in 2019, a year-on-year increase of 5.1 percent. The per capita disposable income of Jianggan residents was 68,392 yuan, up 8.6 percent year-on-year. Import and export volume reached 24.38 and 15.93 billion yuan, growing 10.4 and 0.4 percent.
