Three young men from Nagchu, Southwest China's Tibet autonomous region, recently received live working certificates for high-and-cold areas from Zhejiang on Dec 18, local media reported.

The three young men were graduates of a training program launched by State Grid Nagchu Electric Power Co and its supporters in East China's Zhejiang province.

The idea was conceived in July this year and attendees participated in a seven-week professional training course taught by He Baochang, a professional who has taken part in many power-cut repairs in Nagchu.

Nagchu's high altitude, vast territory, and harsh natural environment make working conditions difficult and it usually takes workers several days or more to travel to power-outage sites and perform emergency maintenance.

"They are expected to help relieve 80 percent of power outages in Nagchu, generating over 100 million yuan ($15.3 million) in economic output," said Ding Pinggang, deputy director of the State Grid Nagchu Electric Power Co.

One young man said he was happy to see his hometown develop better with more power – his parents can now use a microwave oven to heat buttered tea, a local specialty, and his younger sister no longer needs to light candles to do her homework. The lives of local residents are getting better and better.
