Hangzhou donated 6,200 Spring Festival kits to Chinese embassies in Argentina, Kuwait, and the Czech Republic earlier this month, addressing their needs and ensuring overseas Chinese there can have a safe and joyous Spring Festival.

"Weather the storm together" is the line inscribed on box packages sent to the Czech Republic, reflecting the resolve in rendering mutual support and overcoming difficulties posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Packages heading for Kuwait had the slogan of the 2022 Asian Games, "Heart to Heart, @Future," printed on them. Hangzhou is the host city of the 2022 Asian Games, and Kuwait is home to the headquarters of the Olympic Council of Asia.

Packages delivered to Argentina feature the Chinese saying of "When brothers share the same conviction, they can easily break a strong piece of metal." It echoes the Argentine proverb of "Being united is the law for all brothers."

The kits contain masks and medicine, as well as brochures about the West Lake and Xixi Wetland.

A pair of well-designed Spring Festival couplets was also included in each kit, with the vertical lines reading "As spring runs across the land, we bid farewell to the Year of the Rat" and "As felicity arises in the world, we extend welcome to the Year of the Ox." A final horizontal line above reads, "Along comes a favorable air."

Cooperation between Hangzhou and the world haven't ceased during the COVID-19 pandemic, which erupted during last year's Spring Festival holiday.

Donations of the first batch of medical supplies to Hangzhou came from sister cities, overseas Chinese, and international friends. By the time the pandemic had been largely brought under control in China, Hangzhou repaid the kindness at the first opportunity possible by donating or helping procure medical supplies for sister cities and international organizations, as well as sharing their experience in resuming work and production.
