Zhejiang cities set socioeconomic targets to reach by 2025
Over the past two months, all 11 cities at or above prefecture-level in East China's Zhejiang province have hosted its annual "two sessions", meetings of lawmakers and political advisors, in which municipal government work reports were reviewed and approved.
The cities' development targets to reach by 2025 have been announced in these reports.
Hangzhou
The provincial capital of Hangzhou strives to reach 2.3 trillion yuan ($355.35 billion) in GDP and 180,000 yuan in GDP per capita in 2025.
R&D expense as a percentage of GDP is expected to rise above 4 percent.
Core industries for digital economy are expected to generate revenue of more than 2 trillion yuan in their main businesses and 700 billion yuan in industrial value-added.
Per capita disposable income is set to surpass 85,000 yuan. Urban-rural residents' income ratio is expected to fall below 1.75. Life expectancy should reach 83.88 years. Urbanization rate among permanent resident population is set to exceed 82 percent.
Ningbo
Ningbo aims to reach 1.7 trillion yuan in GDP and 170,000 yuan in GDP per capita in 2025. The urbanization rate among its permanent resident population is set to exceed 80 percent.
Wenzhou
Wenzhou's GDP is set to grow by 6.5 percent annually on average over the next five years so that it is expected to reach 1 trillion yuan in 2025. By then, the city is also projected to be home to millions of well-educated people and more than 10 million citizens.
Huzhou
Huzhou aims to reach 0.5 trillion yuan in GDP and exceed the provincial average level for GDP per capita in 2025. Its R&D expense as a percentage of GDP is expected to reach 3.3 percent. The urbanization rate among its permanent resident population is set to exceed 72 percent.
Jiaxing
Jiaxing aims to reach 0.9 trillion yuan in GDP and 150,000 yuan in GDP per capita in 2025.
Shaoxing
Shaoxing aims to reach 0.85 trillion yuan in GDP and 150,000 yuan in GDP per capita in 2025. More than half of the industrial value-added generated by above-designated-size companies should stem from emerging industries. R&D expense as a percentage of GDP is expected to reach 3.3 percent. The urbanization rate among its permanent resident population is set to exceed 75 percent. Life expectancy should surpass 82.5 years.
Shaoxing also aims to resume its position as one of the top 30 Chinese cities in terms of comprehensive economic strength.
Jinhua
Jinhua aims to reach 0.66 trillion yuan in GDP in 2025. Core industries for digital economy are expected to account for at least 8 percent of the GDP. Its R&D expense as a percentage of GDP is expected to reach 2.8 percent. The urbanization rate among its permanent resident population is set to exceed 74 percent.
Quzhou
Quzhou aims to reach 0.25 trillion yuan in GDP and 100,000 yuan in GDP per capita in 2025. The average annual growth rate of its fixed-asset investment over the next five years should reach 9 percent. Its R&D expense as a percentage of GDP is expected to reach 2.8 percent. The urbanization rate among its permanent resident population is set to reach 70 percent. The growth rate for the city's residents' income should maintain its lead in the province. Life expectancy is set to exceed 80.5 years.
Zhoushan
Zhoushan aims to reach 0.25 trillion yuan in GDP and 200,000 yuan in GDP per capita in 2025. The urbanization rate among its permanent resident population is set to reach 75 percent.
Taizhou
Taizhou aims to reach 0.7 trillion yuan in GDP and 120,000 yuan in GDP per capita in 2025. Its R&D expense as a percentage of GDP is expected to reach 3.3 percent. The urbanization rate among its permanent resident population is set to reach 69 percent. It will also strive to become a national benchmark city for private economy and Industry 4.0.
Lishui
Lishui aims to reach 0.225 trillion yuan in GDP and 100,000 yuan in GDP per capita in 2025. Its R&D expense as a percentage of GDP is expected to reach 3 percent. The urbanization rate among its permanent resident population is set to reach 70 percent. The growth rates for both its GDP and residents' income should be one of the highest among Zhejiang cities. Its ecology and environment should continue to be rated the best in the province. The urban-rural residents' income ratio should drop below 1.9. Life expectancy should reach 81.5 years.
