Digital technology has been changing the lives of She ethnic monitory in Tonglu county, local media outlets reported on April 6.

The first change is related to food, as the introduction of 5G networks has allowed farmers to leverage technologies to maximize their agricultural yield, farm fish in rice fields, perform environment monitoring, and fend off pest and diseases.

"We used to make at most 500 yuan ($76.35) for 400 kilograms of rice per mu (per 0.067 hectares). Now, we can earn 15,000 yuan per mu as our rice output has reached 500 kg. We have also managed to farm 130 kg of fish," said Huang Jinyuan, an official at Shenguan village.

In the Minzu Primary School of Eshan Village, 5G and virtual reality technology have enriched the lives of students by allowing them to experience places such as the Xisha Islands in the South China Sea and even the moon.

"VR technology has broadened our students' horizons and their knowledge is no less than their peers in urban Hangzhou," a local official said.

The influx of new advanced medical devices that were previously not available have also improved the lives of locals.

Lei Minyan, a resident of the Longfeng Minzu village, said that he can now enjoy the same quality of healthcare as Tonglu county.

"It's really convenient to be able to see doctors and have body examinations just near my home," Lei said.
