When standing on the Dengyun Bridge in Gongshu district, Hangzhou to enjoy the southernmost scenery of the Grand Canal, what do you imagine the space under the bridge to be like?

The Grand Canal Red Sandalwood Square, which was officially unveiled on July 24, is sure to impress you.

The square, which has turned the once idle space under the Dengyun Bridge into a niche 24-hour museum, features the Tiancheng Hall, Tiangong Hall, Jiangxin Street and Reading Corridor.

The first group of exhibitions will consist of 66 pieces of rosewood works created by 24 experts from all over the country, showcasing craftsmanship and rosewood culture.

Antique works of bamboo weaving, stone carving, embroidery and ceramics will be exhibited at the square in the future in an effort to bring people new cultural experiences.

The Grand Canal Red Sandalwood Museum, where the square is located, will be a new cultural landmark of Gongchen Bridge along with the Grand Canal Digital Literature Museum and the Grand Canal Digital Image Museum. It will open to the public in October.

The three new museums are expected to complement the national museums in Hangzhou and form a complete Grand Canal cultural experience complex.
