The China National Intellectual Property Administration recently announced that 20 patents from Hangzhou won the 23rd China Patent Award, with two winning gold, one winning silver, and 17 winning the excellence award.

The China Patent Award, which was jointly worked out by the National Intellectual Property Administration and the World Intellectual Property Organization, is the only national award that honors patented inventions and creations.

One gold award winner is the online monitoring of dioxins by tunable laser spectra combined with time-of-flight mass spectrometry, which for the first time in the world realized the online monitoring of dioxins in the flue gas of waste incineration plants and solved common problems such as long detection cycles and slowness of dioxin detection results.

In recent years, Hangzhou has been actively promoting the high-quality development of IP rights. By the end of June, the city had 109,000 invention patents, ranking first among provincial capitals in China. Eighteen high-value patent portfolios have been conceived by local enterprises, and the numbers of demonstration enterprises with IP advantages, enterprises with consistent standards, and custody enterprises reached 1,090, 1,218 and 2,907, respectively.
