The Asian Games is not just about the continent's top athletes and world-class competition – its musical soundtrack is also expected to be world-class.

On Oct 8, the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee initiated the third phase of a campaign to solicit musical works, calling on people from around the world to compose music for the sporting event.

Works can be submitted until March 1, 2023.

According to the committee's expectations, the musical works for the Games should be artistic and creative, regardless of their genre, be it pop, folk, rock or rap, and should be heard and shared by a worldwide audience.

A panel commission will be set up to choose the best 50 songs, lyrics and pure musical works from all submissions, as well as decide the best 10 works, with each receiving a bonus of 30,000 yuan ($4,215).

On June 23, 2020, International Olympic Day, a global celebration of the founding of the modern Olympic Movement in Paris on June 23, 1894, the HAGOC opened the first phase of submissions. Since then it has selected a large number of extraordinary works from both home and abroad, from ordinary people who love and support the Games and from professional musicians.

The latest information about the solicitation will be updated via HAGOC's official website, WeChat account, and Weibo (Chinese Tweet).
