Introduction:

Boston, situated on the Shawmut Peninsula on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean, is the capital and largest city of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the United States. 

Founded in 1630 by Puritan settlers from England, it is one of the oldest cities in the United States. It is also one of the country’s most ancient and cultural cities, as well as the scene of several key events of the American Revolution, such as the Boston Massacre, the Boston Tea Party, the Battle of Bunker Hill, and the Siege of Boston. 

Boston is also an important shipping port and manufacturing city. Its surrounding area's many colleges and universities make it an international center of higher education, as well as a center of health care. Boston's economic base includes finance, professional and business services, information technology, and especially bioengineering. It is recognized as a global and cosmopolitan city.

Boston celebrated the 40th anniversary of its sister city partnership with Hangzhou on May 1 local time and proclaimed May 1 as "Boston-Hangzhou Day".
