A total of 12 players and coaches from East China's Zhejiang province was included in the latest training list of the Chinese men's and women's volleyball teams on Jan 28, according to the China Volleyball Association.
"The training, which will last three months, is mainly for the purpose of preparing for international competitions and testing younger players," said Wu Sheng, chief coach of the Chinese men's volleyball team and also a Zhejiang province native.
Wu said that 2023 is a really big year as it not only includes the opening of the Volleyball Nations League, Hangzhou Asian Games, and the Asian Championships, but also the qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
"The Chinese men's volleyball team not only needs to strengthen the basic skills and further sharpen their skills and tactics, but also needs to participate in more high-level competitions, which will help players gain more practical experience," Wu said.
The Chinese men's volleyball training will be held at the Zhangzhou Sports Training Base in East China's Fujian province starting on Feb 2, while the women's team will start training in Ningbo, a neighboring city of Hangzhou in Zhejiang province, on Feb 1.
