Zhejiang University and Ant Group signed a cooperation agreement on March 29 to establish the Intelligent Vision Joint Laboratory, local media outlets reported.

According to the agreement, the lab will be dedicated to advancing technological innovation and industrial applications in the field of intelligent vision and focus on core intelligent vision technologies such as machine vision, 3D reconstruction, and visual content generation in artificial intelligence and computer vision.

Computer vision refers to the study of how computers or robots can "understand" the world by mimicking human vision in perceiving and understanding graphics or images. As a key technology for achieving industrial digitization and intelligence, it is becoming the fastest-growing branch of AI, with a wide range of applications in financial certification, public security, and people's livelihoods.

The joint laboratory will conduct joint research on 3D vision technology in the real world. Short-term research will focus on core technology areas such as intelligent 3D scene modeling and digital human-driven technology, medium-term research will focus on the digitization of complex objects and scenes in dynamic environments, and long-term research will focus on the digitization of large-scale scenes in unconstrained environments to create highly-realistic dynamic digital worlds.
