Marius Kimutai of Bahrain won the men's race with a time of 2 hours 10 minutes 5 seconds at the 2019 Hangzhou Marathon on Nov 3, setting a new record for the event.

A total of 36,000 runners from 58 countries and regions took part in the full marathon on the "most beautiful course", which featured more of West Lake than previous courses.

This year's event featured the same events as in the past, including full and half marathons, a mini marathon, a couples run, and a child/family run.

In July, the Hangzhou Marathon was awarded the IAAF Road Race Gold Label by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), making it the 12th marathon in China to join the ranks of the world's most prestigious marathon leagues.

Launched in 1987, the Hangzhou Marathon is the second oldest marathon in China. It has been named a Gold Label Road Race by the Chinese Athletic Association every year since 2014.
