Happiest City in China
In December 2019, Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, made the 2019 list of China's top 10 happiest cities, according to an index report released at the 2019 Chinese Happy City Forum held in Guangzhou, Guangdong province on Nov 25.
As the only city to have appeared on the list for 13 consecutive years, Hangzhou was granted the special honorary title of "demonstration city for happiness" by the organizing committee of the forum.
Top E-commerce City in China
Hangzhou ranked first among Chinese cities in terms of e-commerce strength in 2019, according to a report by Dolphin Think Tank.
Global Top 100 International Conference Destination
According to a ranking released by the International Congress and Convention Association in 2018, Hangzhou came in 97th globally as a conference destination and was third among Chinese mainland cities, closely following Beijing and Shanghai.
The city is now looking to become a leading destination for international conferences and conventions.
National Ecological Garden City
Hangzhou stood out from among more than 300 "national garden cities" and was officially recognized as the "national ecological garden city" by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development in 2017.

In April, 2016, Hangzhou was rated by the China Research Association for International Personnel Exchange and Development as the “Most Appealing Chinese City in the Eyes of Foreigners”. This was the first time Hangzhou had ranked among the top three on the list.
