A team consisting of officials, experts and e-commerce businessmen held a promotional show for local tea in tea gardens at the famous Thousand-Island Lake scenic area in Chun'an county, Hangzhou on March 2.

The team members promoted the Thousand-Island Lake tea in a live broadcast as part of a local service program to help tea companies resume operations amid the current coronavirus outbreak.

Officials said they chose to hold the broadcast in the countryside tea gardens in order to avoid crowds, in light of the recent novel coronavirus epidemic.

Team member Shao Shuhong, a doctoral degree holder in tea studies and a local of the area, said she has been drinking Thousand-Island Lake tea since she was little.

"Thousand-Island Lake tea is of superior quality, owing to the area's unique climate and sophisticated tea processing techniques," she said.

Selling tea is a major income source for local farmers in Chun'an county. The county currently has around 12,667 hectares of tea gardens and 80,000 tea planters.
