A performance tour to Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries, given by Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra (HPO), came to an end in Hungary on April 27.

The 14-day tour covered five CEE countries – Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia and Hungary, and presented six concerts to the European audience. This was the orchestra's sixth tour to Europe since it was founded nine years ago.

In Greece, the first stop of the tour, HPO's performance was included into the local 2018 Megaron Music Season. Christos Tsenes, general manager of Phormgx Concert Agency who invited HPO to give performances in Greece and Romania, thought it was amazing that the 9-year-old orchestra could play so impressive music. He said 80 percent of the tickets were sold out before the concert in Greece, which was beyond the expectations of the European organizer.

Wang Zheng, Chinese cultural counselor in Hungary highly praised the orchestra's performance, saying, "The exquisite performance staged a great audio-visual feast to Hungarian people."

HPO has been playing the role of a bridge that connects Hangzhou and the rest of the world with music in recent years. Besides the musical performances, it also promoted Hangzhou's distinctive cultural elements like tea and silk by attending assorted overseas cultural activities.
