Hangzhou Southern Pictures Co Ltd was founded in 1998, and is active in film and television innovation, production, distribution and investment. It was listed on the China's National Equities Exchange and Quotation (NEEQ), also known as the "new third board", on October 2015. Its three subsidiaries are Zhejiang Southern Pictures Development Co Ltd, Yining Southern Picture Co Ltd and Beijing Southern Pictures Culture Co Ltd.

Southern Pictures Co Ltd serves as the director unit of the China Television Production Committee of the China Radio and Television Association (CRTA). It was crowned the Key Cultural Enterprise of the Zhejiang cultural Industry 122 project and the Outstanding Contribution Enterprise in Hangzhou’s creative industry. XuYun, the chairman of the company, has been named one of the “Top 10 National TV series Producers” and one of the “Ten Influential Men of First Hangzhou Cultural Creative Industry Session”.
