Baochu Pagoda
Situated on Baoshi Hill north of West Lake, Baochu Pagoda also goes by the names of Baoshu or Baoshi Pagoda. It was built by Qian Hongchu, the King of Wuyue Kingdom. Originally nine stories high, it was reduced to seven stories when it was rebuilt during the reign of Emperor Zhenzong (998-1003) of Song Dynasty (960-1279). It has been renovated numerous times by later generations. More than 40 meters high, the body of the pagoda is in the shape of an octagon with a structure made of tightly laid bricks. The pagoda stands as a landmark of West Lake scenery.
