Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang province, showcased its touristic sights to British audiences in a promotional event in London, the United Kingdom, on Aug 31.

Organized by the Hangzhou Tourism Commission and Expedia Group Media Solutions, an online travel platform, the event, featuring the city's rich tourism resources, attracted hundreds of representatives and leading figures in related industries.

Carey J Fletcher, chairman of China Britain Travel Group, shared with attendees the status quo of the tourism landscape in the UK and European countries, and introduced what Hangzhou has to offer in terms of tourism.

To further understand the travel habits of visitors, "Hangzhou Holiday Pick 'n' Mix Service", an online marketing activity developed by Expedia, presents European visitors a tailored Hangzhou itinerary by combining the data of their travel preferences, tastes and interests through the platform.

While stunning scenery no longer being the only draw for visitors, the city, famous for its West Lake, is striving to increase its tourist appeal by providing high-quality services and developing a comprehensive infrastructure, according to Andrew van der Feltz, senior director for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region at Expedia Group.

Over the years, Hangzhou has been committed to building itself into an international tourism and leisure center. According to official statistics, the number of foreign tourists travelling to Hangzhou reached 4.02 million in 2017, up 10.7 percent year on year. The United Kingdom has become one of the top ten sources for tourism in Hangzhou.
