A delegation of 62 business and research leaders, led by Daniel Günther, minister president of the state of Schleswig-Holstein in Germany, embarked on a medical visit to the First Affiliated Hospital of Medical School of Zhejiang University (FAHZU) in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, on Sept 18.

Aiming at deepening exchanges and promoting strategic cooperation in medical technology, the delegation visited a Sino-German joint medical project that uses an artificial intelligence (AI) system to diagnose and identify prostate cancer in its early stages and carried out discussions with local medical experts.

The AI project, established in Germany in 1990, was introduced into China in 2013. In 2016, the Sino-German prostate medical base officially landed at the FAHZU.

"We are delighted to see that the medical cooperation between China and Germany has yielded positive results", said Günther, adding that medical treatment is an important area among the cooperation projects and it will be further developed with bilateral support.

Wang Weilin, director of FAHZU, introduced the hospital and said that while China focuses on international exchanges and cooperation, it is also actively promoting its advanced medical technology to the world so as to seek partnerships and build a worldwide community for exchanges in the development of healthcare.
