Preparations for the 14th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) are well underway in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, with the construction of the main competition venue now finished.

As the biggest international sports event that will have taken place in Hangzhou to date, the championships will be held in the city from Dec 11 to 16 at the 10,000-seat Tennis Centre in the Hangzhou Olympic and International Expo Center.

To meet the requirements of the international tournament, stands are available at all the four sides around the swimming pool, and the venue roof will shield the crowd from the elements of the December weather.

Eight LED screens are displayed around the competition venue, which will be used for scoring, real-time broadcasts of the games as well as other interesting moments during the games.

The installation of the lights and audio equipment  for the opening and closing ceremonies commenced from Nov 22, with the expectation it will be finalized by Nov 29, said a local organizer.

To date, a total of 1,261 athletes from 178 countries and regions across the world have confirmed their participation for the event, including 42 Chinese athletes.
