A cooperative agreement between Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province and Hong Kong was signed in the administrative region on Feb 15 amid efforts to promote bilateral educational exchanges.

According to the agreement, the two sides will forge a compelling partnership in talent cultivation, faculty exchanges, scientific research and social services, with the purpose to further improve the teaching quality and exchange the management knowhow of higher institutions from both parties.

Hangzhou has always been a hotspot for exchanges between teachers and students in Hong Kong. The exchanges between the two places have long been plentiful, including the establishment of sister schools, seminars and experience projects, said Yeung Yun-hung, secretary of Hong Kong Education Bureau.

To date, more than 70 pairs of primary and secondary schools in Hangzhou and the administrative region have formed friendly ties and conducted various exchanges and visits. On the higher institutions front, over 50 cooperative projects were signed between Hong Kong and Zhejiang research institutions.
