Hangzhou, Vietnam look to deepen relations

A Hangzhou delegation led by Zhou Jiangyong, Party secretary of the capital city of Zhejiang province, visited Vietnam on June 30, looking to establish closer ties with the Southeast Asian country.

During the visit, Zhou met with Vice Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Vo Thi Dung and shared his insights on the history and future prospects of the relations between Hangzhou and Vietnam. 

He suggested that the two parties seize the opportunities provided by the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and cement bilateral cooperation and people-to-people exchanges in economy, trade, education, tourism and culture.

The municipal official of Ho Chi Minh City said that more will be done to deepen mutual exchange in various fields.

The delegation visited the 600-hectare Long Jiang Industrial Park, one of the largest and most advanced industrial parks built by a Chinese company in Vietnam, while being briefed on the investment environment and company development of the park.

A promotional event for Hangzhou's cultural and tourism resources was also held in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, on July 3.

Zhou explained that Hangzhou is a city with a rich cultural and historical heritage and expressed his hopes that the two sides can join hands in strengthening exchange and cooperation in tourism.
