The second Hangzhou Cultural Consumption Season is set to be held from August to October to promote the city's cultural industries, said the organizers of the event on July 29.

Aiming to integrate culture and tourism and improve the lives of locals, the cultural event will stage 36 cultural activities in six different sections, offering visitors an experience of Hangzhou's quality cultural and tourism resources.

Unlike last year, this year's event will focus on the integration of culture and tourism, the application of the internet in culture and travel, and encourage more consumption among residents, said Liu Yufeng, an official from the Hangzhou Bureau of Culture, Radio, TV, Film and Tourism.

He added that the first Hangzhou Cultural Consumption Season last year led to people spending 884 million yuan ($128 million).

The second Hangzhou Cultural Consumption Season will continue to deepen ties with local internet giants and e-commerce platforms such as Alibaba, Taobao, Tmall, online ticketing platform damai.cn and tourism platform Fliggy, said the organizers.

Endowed with rich cultural and tourism resources and great potential for development, Hangzhou was named a pilot city for national cultural consumption in 2017. Over the years, the stimulation of cultural and tourism consumption potential has become a major impetus propelling the city's cultural industry.
