The France Day of Hangzhou Dream Town opened in Hangzhou in Zhejiang province on Sept 20 -- with Chinese and French experts in artificial intelligence, life sciences, big data and intelligent city gathering to share their vision about the construction of a French Village in China.

The project, covering an area of 57,000 square meters in Hangzhou Future Sci-Tech City, is designed to be a multi-functional complex to bring about advanced technologies, scientific and technological innovation and attract leading professionals from China and France.

Zhu Hongdan, an official from Yuhang district, said that the village will be an important platform for Chinese and French entrepreneurs. Zhu said it would facilitate bilateral cooperation ranging from technology, to talent and capital.

A cooperation agreement on the village was signed by Hangzhou Future Sci-Tech City and Optiva Darna, a French business, equity management and deal structuring company. It launched a Sino-French innovation industry fund and accelerator with Hangzhou.

"Today marks the beginning for the French Village of Hangzhou Dream Town," said Fadwa Sube, president of Optiva Darna.

"Together with our partner, we'll embark on a long international journey to make the town into a demonstration area featuring business, advanced technology, Chinese and foreign culture and art," Sube added.
