Hangzhou hunts for global talents to be civil servants

The city of Hangzhou began hunting for talents from across the globe to serve as civil servants in the city, according to a notice issued by the local government on Oct 10.

This is the first time that the government of Hangzhou has targeted talents from abroad to serve as civil servants.

The local government opened 19 positions to the public, with each of the job vacancy requiring professional expertise. 

Employees who want to apply for the job positions need have at least a master’s degree, be of Chinese nationality, and not exceed 40 years of age. 

Those who are admitted will go through several rounds of exams and interviews. 

Interested parties should submit their applications to the local government before Oct 31. 

Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, covers an area of 16,600 square meters and is home to around 10 million residents. 

In recent years, the city has boasted the highest net inflow rate of high-level overseas and IT professionals. 

For the past 12 years, Hangzhou has had among the highest happiness indices of any Chinese city, and for the past nine years, it has been recognized as one of China's 10 most attractive cities for expats.
