The organizing committee of the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games recently received the first proposal on designing the opening and closing ceremonies of the games, following a call by organizers on Sept 10 for submissions on the event's ceremonies and mascot.

The submission was from a 52-year-old female surnamed He in Shenzhen. The full-length proposal, which incorporates a number of Hangzhou elements, was handwritten.

Officials commended her ideas, saying that they reflected a significant amount of research on the city and the Games.

She has clearly come up with unique and original ideas, commented one official.

On Sept 10, the organizing committee held a ceremony to mark the three-year countdown to the event, as well as the call for submissions from across the world regarding the mascot and opening and closing ceremonies.

According to the organizers, proposals should be expressed only in text rather than through photos and videos; submissions should also take into account the need to keep the organization of the event as simple as possible.

Each proposal must not exceed 5,000 words and submissions can contain ideas for both the opening and closing ceremonies, or just one.

Anyone wanting to submit their own ideas needs to enter by Jan 31, 2020. Detailed information can be downloaded from the official website of the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.
