The 2020 China Hangzhou Online West Lake Summit, a live-streaming road show for business projects, was held on Feb 26 in Xihu district, Hangzhou.

The online road show brought together representatives from 13 companies, 10 well-known investment institutes and government departments.

The event proved popular, with around 500,000 people participating within just half an hour.

According to Zhang Jiong, director of the Xihu district investment promotion bureau, more than 300 companies signed up for the summit online, and 13 were ultimately admitted after a round of screening using big data technology.

The 13 companies from around the country are leaders in artificial intelligence and intelligent manufacturing and brought with them 14 projects.

Representatives from China’s top 10 investment institutes were also invited to give online comments.

“This is the first time for me to take part in a road show like this, I’m nervous and excited at the same time,” said Cheng Qi, president of Qi’s Academy.

During the road show, the academy presented two projects, one of which was a portable machine which can supposedly detect viruses within five to 10 minutes.

Cheng said that he has faith in the business climate in Xihu district and was considering developing his projects there.

According to Zhang, Xihu district will continue exploring ways to use the internet to attract business.

He stressed that talents and companies introduced to the district after review will receive up to 1 million yuan ($142,731) in cash awards.
