The Hangzhou Federation of Labor Unions plans to improve its subsidy policy for highly skilled workers and offer more subsidies to more skilled workers this year.

Since 2015, the federation has formulated subsidy policies every year to award highly-skilled employees. Last year, a total of 12,718 employees received more than 6.67 million yuan ($940,510) in such subsidies.

According to the federation's plan, more than 8,000 employees in Hangzhou are expected to receive subsidies this year.

A representative from the federation said that senior workers will be awarded 500 yuan each, technicians will be awarded 600 yuan each, and high-level technicians will receive 800 yuan each.

Recipients of the subsidies must be members of Hangzhou trade unions and must hold senior worker qualification certificates recognized by human resource departments.

The certificates must be dated between Dec 1, 2018 and Nov 30, 2020.

Companies can also apply for subsidies for their employees.
