A group of 226 Hangzhou medics dispatched to Wuhan, Hubei province to help battle the COVID-19 outbreak arrived at Qiandao Lake, or Thousand-island Lake, in Chun'an county on March 31 for a 14-day vacation.

This was the third medical team that Hangzhou dispatched to Wuhan in February and consisted of medical workers from 47 hospitals. They were assigned to work at the Optics Valley Campus of Tongji Hospital.

During their 51 days in the central Chinese city, the 226 doctors and nurses treated 126 severely ill patients.

Huang Haifeng, Party chief of Chun'an county, addressed the welcome ceremony, saying the medical team accomplished its mission and won the battle against the virus with none of the workers being infected.

Huang said that over the next 14 days, Chun’an will provide attentive services to the returned medics and that he hopes the workers will enjoy a pleasant vacation beside Qiandao Lake before reuniting with their families and returning to work.

Chun'an county has issued a slew of preferential policies to pay respects to medical staff. Over the next three years, the Qiandao Lake scenic area will offer free admission to medics who served in virus-hit Wuhan. In addition, 10 scenic spots in the county will offer free admission to all Chinese medical workers throughout 2020.
