Construction on the main structure of the Hangzhou International Airport station, the largest station included in the third phase of Metro Line 1, was completed on May 24, local media reported.

Construction on the main structure of all five stations has been completed.

Starting from Xiasha Jiangbin station in Jianggan district and crossing the Qiantang River to Hangzhou International Airport, the line runs a total length of 11.2 kilometers and is expected to open to traffic by the end of this year.

The airport will be a 20-minute subway ride from Xiasha area and a 50-minute ride from the Wulin Commercial Complex in downtown Hangzhou, roughly the same time as airport shuttle buses.

The line will boost the airport's effectiveness as an integrated transport center, seamlessly connecting local railway stations, metro lines, airport express buses, long-distance coaches, and taxies and transporting over 90 million people every year.

It will also play a positive role in the Asians Games, which are scheduled to take place in Hangzhou from Sept 10 to 25, 2022.
