Optical communication is a pillar industry of Fuyang district, Hangzhou, with its annual output of optical fibers and cables accounting for a quarter of the national total.

Rapidly developing 5G technology has helped Fuyang complete its optical communication industrial chain and boost innovation. The district has tightened collaboration with local universities and research institutes, sought to integrate automatics, manufacturing and information technologies, and determined to become an R&D and manufacturing hub.

Statistics show that there are 50 optical communication and 5G technology enterprises in Fuyang that are above designated size, represented by optical fiber and cable company Futong Group, telecom tower manufacturer Debao Communication Technologies Co, communication equipment company Huahong, and 5G application company ByteTech.

The optical communication industry in Fuyang has been recovering from the COVID-19 outbreak in January and registered double digit growth in its main businesses in April and May.
