Many short video producers from across Zhejiang province gathered at the Hangzhou Liangzhu Culture and Art Center in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang, on Aug 22 to participate in the Wave Making Program launched by short video platform Douyin.

The program is meant to encourage short video producers to create promotional videos for Zhejiang and share them on Douyin.

By Aug 24, more than 3,200 Douyin users had taken part in the program, sharing their creative short videos on the platform. The event attracted over 2,000 visitors from government departments and media institutes.

A number of leading multi-channel network (MCN) institutes in Zhejiang set up booths at the event to interact with short video producers and Douyin fans in person.

Some booths showcasing things like Liangzhu culture, traditional Chinese fans, Chinese tea, and clothing were set up as well.

Several industry insiders and entrepreneurs were also invited to the event, delivering lectures on short video making, their personal experiences starting businesses, and operating short video accounts.

"I liked reading comic books when I was young, which actually helped me structure short videos," said Gayanqiduan, an online celebrity with more than 14 million followers on Douyin.
