Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, received a substantial 10.86 million domestic tourist visits during the 8-day National Day holiday, about 82 percent of the same period last year, as of 4 pm on Oct 8.
West Lake and Xixi National Wetland Park remained top two tourist destinations, being visited a total of 3.28 million times during the holiday. The city operated 80,000 night cruises on the Qiantang River, the mother river of Hangzhou, which included splendid light shows along the river banks.
The Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City gave visitors the chance to interact with various digital and cultural elements, while the Grand Canal, another historical site inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list, offered visitors seven unique travel routes.
The Final Class, an episode of the blockbuster film My People My Homeland, which hit cinemas across China on Oct 1, has turned the Fuwen Township Central Primary School in Chun'an county into a popular tourist spot, owing largely to its colorful glass walls.
