The first phase of Golden Cross Street, located at the intersection of two commercial streets, will start operating on Dec 30, local media reported.

The intersection is formed by Minxin Road, which stretches 600 meters from east to west, and Jiangjin Road, which stretches 450 meters from north to south. It is already home to the Raffles City mall, the MixC shopping mall, and the Ping An International Finance Center.

The street imitates the world-renowned Orchard Road in Singapore and infuses many global elements to appeal to a more international audience. Fancy lighting effects, artistic displays, a space corridor, and luminous zebra crossings give it a unique flair.

Digital facilities can be seen on every corner of the street, and shows aired at the street's live-streaming house can be played on computers and mobile phones across the globe.

The second phase of the street, which will extend south to the Qiantang River, is expected to be completed in 2021.
