Fish printing, dubbed the most exquisite folk art in Chun'an county, boasts a history of over 100 years.

It was inspired by the time-honored Chinese art of tablet inscription and has helped numerous local fishermen record the species, length, shape and color of their prized catches.

The art originated from pressing rice paper onto a fish covered with ink or paint and is now commonly combined with calligraphy, painting and seal-cutting.

Making a successful fish print requires the utmost patience from the most skilled and experienced handicraftsmen.
